Hugh Pickens writes "Steve Blank, a professor at Berkeley and Stanford and serial entrepreneur from Silicon Valley, says that the the Facebook IPO is the beginning of the end for Silicon Valley as we know it. "Silicon Valley historically would invest in science, and technology, and, you know, actual silicon," says Blank. "If you were a good venture capitalist you could make $100 million." But there's a new pattern emerging created by two big ideas that will lead to the demise of Silicon Valley as we know it. The first is putting computer devices, mobile and tablet especially, in the hands of billions of people and the second is that we are moving all the social needs that we used to do face-to-face onto the computer and this trend has just begun. "If you think Facebook is the end, ask MySpace. Art, entertainment, everything you can imagine in life is moving to computers. Companies like Facebook for the first time can get total markets approaching the entire population." That's great for Facebook but it means Silicon Valley is screwed as a place for investing in advanced science. "If I have a choice of investing in a blockbuster cancer drug that will pay me nothing for ten years, at best, whereas social media will go big in two years, what do you think I'm going to pick?" concludes Blank. "The headline for me here is that Facebook's success has the unintended consequence of leading to the demise of Silicon Valley as a place where investors take big risks on advanced science and tech that helps the world. 将棋の第２期リコー杯女流王座戦１次予選が１９日、東京・千駄ヶ谷で行われ、海外招待選手でポーランドの大学生、 カロリーナ・ステチェンスカさん（２０）が１回戦で高群(たかむれ)佐知子女流三段（４１）を破った。
外国人の女性が公式戦で女流プロに勝ったのは初めて。
続く２回戦では女流王将２期の強豪、千葉涼子女流四段（３２）に敗れた。
ステチェンスカさんは４年ほど前、将棋が出てくる日本の漫画を読んで興味を持った。
インターネット対局で腕を上げ、現在アマ四段。局後、「女流棋士になるのが夢なので、今日の勝利はその第一歩」と笑顔で話した。

DerekduPreez writes "The UK government has finally unveiled the second iteration of its Cloudstore after a number of delays, and has reneged on its pledge to make version 2.0 open source. Cloudstore is an online catalogue that the public sector can use to procure cloud services provided by suppliers signed up to the G-Cloud framework. The first version of the Cloudstore was unveiled in February. Computerworld UK spoke to former G-Cloud director Chris Chant shortly after the first release, who was at the time also overseeing the second iteration. He stated during his interview that Cloudstore 2.0 would be go live in April and it would be built using open source code. However, following weeks of delays, the Cabinet Office has now confirmed that the second iteration also isn't open source." Read more of this story at Slashdot.  |

กลับมาอีกครังกับ Akibatan Ranking ประจำเดือนนี้ ในหัวข้อ การ์ตูนที่อยากให้โดนจับไปทำเป็นเกม Musou มากที่สุด ซึ่งเกม Musou ที่ว่านั้น มาจากค่าย Koei เริ่มด้วยด้วยเกม Sangoku Musou หรือเกม Dynasty Warrior ที่พวกเรารู้จักกันดีนั่นเอง เกมแนว Musou นี้เป็นแนว เดินหน้าฆ่าฟัน กับศัตรูนับพัน ฟัดกับบอสสุดโหด อัพเกรดความสามารถอย่างสนุกสนาน ซึ่งก็ได้มีการนำการ์ตูนเรื่องดังๆ หลายเรื่องอย่าง Hokuto No Ken, Mobile Suit Gundam และล่าสุดก็ One Piece มาทำเป็นเกมแนวนี้แล้ว ก็เลยอยากจะเปิดโหวดถามดูว่าการ์ตูนเรื่องไหนที่คิดว่าน่าจะเอามาทำเป็นเกมแนวนี้ได้อีก เหอๆๆ
กฏิการอบนี้ก็ใส่ชื่อเรื่อง และอย่าแสปมกันเน้อ

Anyone still hanging on to that idea might also be interested to learn that Jaguar and Land Rover are subsidiaries of India's Tata, maker of the low-priced Nano. ダディ宮崎監督自身は「天空の城ラピュタ」を失敗作として嫌っている #あまり知られていない事実を晒せ
ダディ宮崎監督自身は「天空の城ラピュタ」を失敗作として嫌っている
てゆーか、ダディ宮崎監督じゃなくてもラピュタは「失敗作として観える」のが創作者の常識。
ボーイミーツガールから始まる物語の「主人公はパズー」つまり構造上ジュブナイルとして
成立させないといけないのに設定から価値観までことごとくバランスが不自然なまま崩れていく。
ジュブナイルつまり冒険少年物語になっていない。
価値観としてまず炭鉱夫っぽい仕事をして肉団子一個オマケして貰って喜ぶ少年に両親は居ないのにどうやってあれ程沢山の鳩を飼えるのか？
シータが情報部に引き取られた際に渡された金貨を捨てられないのに物語の山場がクライマックスではなくシータ救出のシーンになっていて
本来一番重要なモチベーションである父が発見したという天空の城が存在していた事が単なる通過点。
更に冒険物語の王道である「主人公の成長と活躍で困難を克服してカタルシスを得なければならない」のに
事実上の最終決定は「パズーではなくシータが既に腹を括っているし、パズーの選択も同様に滅びの呪文を唱えるスキヤキハラキリバンザイアタック」。
最も価値観が壊れているのが象徴的なのはラピュタに着いた兵士達が財宝を持ち出すという至極当然の行動に対して
『酷い事するなぁ』とシータに聞こえる言い方をしてラストにドーラ達がくすねた財宝には微笑むデタラメ加減。
細かい所を挙げるとキリが無いのでこの程度で。
ついでに言っとくと、ラピュタの失敗が無かったら「となりのトトロの大成功は無かった」ので、プラマイで言うとややプラス。

ในที่สุดก็มาแล้ว! สาวน้อยเวทมนตร์คนสุดท้ายจากขบวนการ Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica ทั้ง 5 สี (ฮา) หลังจากเปิดตัวสาวน้อยเวทมนตร์คนอื่นๆ ออกมากันครบแล้ว แน่นอนว่าจะเป็นอื่นใดไปไม่ได้นอกจาก 1/8 Sakura Kyouko จากของทาง God Smile Company และทาง Mikatan ก็เอาภาพมายั่วกันตามเคย ก็ไปชมภาพกันเลยดีกว่า

An anonymous reader writes "MIT researchers have developed a highly articulated robotic manipulator based on soft materials that can harden to reposition the device. The technique is known as jamming, and it relies on pouches filled with granular material like coffee grounds; when air is removed from the pouches, they become rigid. The researchers combined jamming actuators with cables to build a manipulator resembling an elephant trunk. They say the device is low-cost, capable of grasping a variety of objects, and can remain in a hardened state for extended periods of time using little energy." ส่วนตัวแล้วคนเขียนไม่ได้อ่าน Mahou Sensei Negima! แต่เห็นว่าจบแบบค้างคาใจแฟนๆ เหลือเกิน (ฮา) แต่เรื่องนี้ก็อาจจะทำให้แฟนๆ ได้ลุ้นกันต่อ จากตอนท้ายของรวมเล่มที่ 38 (ภาพบน) อาจารย์ Akamatsu Ken ได้คอมเม้นท์ไว้ว่าเรื่องนี้ได้จบลงแล้ว “สำหรับในตอนนี้” และเพราะคำนี้เอง ทำให้แฟนๆ อาจจะมีหวังในการที่จะได้เห็นภาคต่อของเรื่องนี้ออกมาก็ได้
นอกจากนี้อาจารย์แกยังบอกไว้อีกว่า “อย่างเช่นเรื่องของ Chao ตอนจบในเล่มนี้ก็อาจจะเป็นเพียงหนึ่งในเรื่องราวของโลกคู่ขนานที่มีอยู่มากมาย” และเรื่องนี้ยังมีปริศนาอีกมากพอให้เขียนถึงกันไปถึงเล่ม 100 กันสบายๆ เลย ตอนท้ายอาจารย์ก็บอกว่า ถ้าในอนาคตเห็น Negima ตอนใหม่ที่ไหน อย่าลืมหยิบมาดูกันด้วยนะ
Negima! นี่ก็ตีพิมพ์อยู่ใน Shonen Magazine ของสำนักพิมพ์ Kodansha มาอย่างนาน ตั้งแต่ปี 2003 นู้น และเล่มที่ 38 ซึ่งเป็นเล่มจบเพิ่งจะวางขายไปเมื่อวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม 2012 ที่ผ่านมาล่ะ
อืมก็จะมีออกมาอีกไหมไม่แน่ใจ แต่ว่าตัวอาจารย์คนวาดบอกแบบนี้ก็พอลุ้นกันได้ละมั้ง
